How Stimvia Treatment Works

STIMVIA is a medical device used for the treatment of Overactive Bladder (OAB) and other bladder dysfunction conditions. It is the latest generation of PTNS (Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation), but with a major difference: it is completely needle-free.

Instead of using needles, STIMVIA uses electrode pads placed on your skin behind your knee to deliver gentle electrical signals. It is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy designed to help you regain control over your bladder. Its full name is Peroneal Electric Transcutaneous Neuromodulation.

Get Your Life Back

Stimvia therapy allows you to live with fewer worries and more confidence. Helping you regain control over your bladder - and thus your life. Unlike oral medications, it does not cause unpleasant side effects and, unlike injectable therapies, is unlikely to cause the need to use catheter (catheterisation).

The most common side effects of Peroneal eTNM therapy are mild and temporary, usually including mild pain/tingling or irritation at the site of stimulation. This method provides a comfortable and effective solution for the treatment of overactive bladder without unnecessary discomfort.

How Does It Feel?

Treatment with URIS is designed to be comfortable and easy for most patients. Many people find the experience reassuring, and some even describe the gentle, rhythmic movement of the feet during stimulation as calming and pleasant.

The therapy should not be painful. You may feel a light tingling sensation, which is normal and part of how the treatment works. There is no need to feel concerned about the process. Sessions are simple and designed around your comfort. During treatment you can read, listen to music, or simply relax.

Overall, URIS therapy is intended to fit easily into your routine, offering a comfortable and convenient way to support bladder control without disrupting your daily life.

Where Is The Treatment Performed

Treatment can take place in a clinic. Therapy usually begins with a course of 12 sessions. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and is carried out once a week. After this initial phase, ongoing sessions are often recommended every four weeks to help maintain the benefits over time.

Clinical studies show that the benefits of this initial 12 week course can last for more than a year for many patients, sometimes without the need for ongoing maintenance.

This flexible approach is designed to provide long term relief while helping you regain control and confidence in your daily life.
